Expired Baby Formula Sold & No Refund – Deeply Disappointed by Clicks Rosebank
On 28 June 2025, my partner purchased baby formula from Clicks Rosebank (The Zone). We were traveling to my grandmother’s home as schools were closing, and the formula was taken along for our 2-year-old child.
Unfortunately, our child would refuse to consume all her milk in the bottle. When my grandmother checked, we discovered that the formula had expired on 30 May 2025 almost a full month before the purchase.
Upon realizing this, I went back to the Clicks Rosebank store to report the issue. I was told by store staff that they needed the physical product in order to assist me. However, by the time I returned to my grandmother’s place to collect the kids, she had already thrown the expired milk away, not knowing we’d need it as evidence.
Despite this, on 25 July, I went back to the store with the purchase receipt as well as images of the formula showing the barcode, batch number, and expiry date. I spoke with store assistant management Jeanette and area manager Precious who had sorry they cannot assist me.
I requested a written copy of Clicks store policy stating they cannot process a refund or exchange without the physical product even when there is proof of purchase and images of the expired item they sold. I also asked them to provide written confirmation of their refusal to refund me.
To this day, 30 July 2025, I have not received any written response, nor has the matter been resolved.
As a long-time customer, I am deeply hurt, disappointed, and feel ******. Clicks is a large and trusted retail chain, yet I have been treated unfairly and without any accountability for selling expired baby formula, which poses a health risk to children. This is unacceptable!
According to the Consumer Protection Act, consumers have the right to receive goods that are safe, of good quality, and within expiry date. Selling expired formula especially for infants violates this fundamental right.
Furthermore, your refusal to refund or provide formal communication in writing, despite having clear proof, is both unprofessional and *********.
I demand: • A formal apology • A full refund for the expired formula sold to me • A written explanation of Clicks refund policy in such cases
I hope Clicks takes this matter seriously and resolves it urgently.
