De*****ing / *****ing from customers

I have been a loyal Clicks client since I was old enough to buy my own toiletries (ergo - for more than 14 years). The last two times I went to Clicks, however, there were numerous errors / discrepancies between the price on the shelf and the price charged at the till.

On an amount of about R200, I was charged an extra R30 the first time. On an amount of about R300, I was charged an additional R25 the second time. Yes, the amounts are not massive, but the point is that if this happens to 1000 customers, Clicks effectively stole R55 000 from its customers.

In both instances I immediately went back to the cashier after collecting the price tags on the shelves, and I had to queue again and fill in slips in order to get my money. I was informed that it is not the specific branch's error, but that they get their prices from the head office. Might I add that the onus is on Clicks to ensure their goods are correctly priced. Now, however, each customer must memorize the prices on the shelves and do a mental comparison with their till slips. Utter nonsense.

I urged the respective managers at both stores (Clicks in Lyttleton and Clicks at Lifestyle Centre) to please take this up at a higher level, as it is disgraceful to de***** customers. I got the impression, however, that this matter will not and has not been reported and taken further.

The fact that Clicks is effectively *****ing from its customers in this way is contrary to the Consumer Protection Act and it is appalling that nothing is being done to rectify the situation.

Please respond to this complaint so that I can ascertain what is being done in this regard.
