Condescending pharmacist
I was assisted by a Pharmacist called Mahlatse Masemola today at the Randburg Square Clicks, just before 12pm, to get over the counter medication for my cold-like symptoms, I suggested that I could need Stillpyn and Allergex to help me with the cold, the lady raised her eyebrows and asked me why would I need Stillpyn and I rep**** that it would be for my pain, she then asked why don’t I get any other medication and I said “well I don’t know, I’m only asking for what I think would be effective.” She then said well I can’t give you Stillpyn because anyone who recommends/requests it is probably an abuser (insinuating that I may just use what I need for other purposes). Furthermore, she added that I don’t look like someone who needs it.
She assisted me accordingly and gave me what she thought was best for me and I appreciate that. My only concern is that she was not empathetic, nor was she compassionate, Mahlatse was just bluntly rude and condescending, not someone I would request assistance from.

I am writing to express my concerns about a recent incident I experienced at the pharmacist with one of your employees at Clicks in Randburg Square. I would like to bring to your attention the fact that I experienced extremely poor customer service during my last visit to the pharmacy which took place on the 21st of October on or about 11:50 pm in the morning.
I left work having caught a fever over the past few days and it was getting worse , stopped by Randburg Square on my way home to get over the counter medication that I am fami**** with which has personally worked for me over the years. One of your employees whose name tag identified as Mahlatse Masemola was behind the counter I asked for specific medication for the fever, ( Alergex, Stillpain and Grandpa ) she raised her eyebrows and scoffed at me then asked me why I would need Stillpain and I rep**** that I have a terrible fever she then asked in a condescending tone why don’t I get any other medication and informed me that she can’t give me Stillpyn her reasons being that anyone who recommends/requests this specific medication is a “drug abuser”, further insinuating that I may just use what I need “for other purposes than for my fever” furthermore and even more shocking she added that I “don’t look like someone who needs it”. I then asked Mahlatse to provide an alternative medication that would help with my **** fever which she handed me ( Tensodol )
Being a consumer of current affairs I am aware of the abuse of certain medication by the youth however It was extremely disheartening that I firstly could not receive assistance in a more compassionate and empathetic manner instead Mahlatse chose to be extremely rude and condescending. I am sure I do not need to point out what is wrong with how she interacted with me as a customer and more so as an adult who needed medical assistance.
