Clicks Violated my POPI to my detriment
I’m very upset with Clicks Fourways Crossing. Last year, I was in a serious car accident that resulted in facial injuries and spinal cord damage after losing my fiancé. My doctor at Fourways Life has been excellent in treating my injuries and managing my mental health, prescribing Tramadol for pain as needed.
Recently, my mom requested access to my medication list at Clicks without my consent, which led to her discovering my HIV status.
This violates the POPI Act, and I am devastated by the breach of my privacy. I haven't stopped crying since I found out, and I am pursuing this matter further with Clicks and the Rational Board with my lawyer.

Honestly, it seems Clicks don't care. I double-checked with Dischem, and they confirmed that private medication information and patient details cannot be shared with a third party, such as a civilian, without consent.
As a business owner, I have spoken to my HR manager, and according to labor law, this situation warrants immediate dismissal. I will also report this to the CCMA for investigation.
I have the name of the pharmacist who disclosed the information, and I can log her violation on NexusLexis where she will struggle to find work again as she will be listed as violation of public information and information that is highly not supposed to be shared, once she is found guilty by the CCMA and my law team. Clicks needs to get in touch with me soon, or this will become problematic for many people.
