Clicks - Feeling Good. Caring Less.
I worked freelance for the Clicks Group Head Office in-house, so-called 'advertising agency" , Beyond The Blue, from December 2015 until March 2019. During all this time, as an hourly-paid contractor, I gave of my best, along with my dedicated former colleagues, who still continue to battle daily with systems so archaic (combined with impossible deadlines) that every single, massive leaflet, and piece of matching ticketing, has to be physically proofed and edited, corrected in pen BY HAND, and changed by the relevant designers, each time a new batch is released. Despite desperate high-profile requests over several years, there is no way to save these changes (due to outmoded computer systems), so everything has to be rechecked and changed each week - and we're talking 1000s of products, descriptions, and tickets that take days to proofread and edit, every time anything goes to print! The same goes for the packaging department. It's as hard to believe (facts still TBC) that I was asked to leave, overnight, without any notice period - after over three years - without any details of how I had erred - having tried to prevent the company from being sued for plagiarism after slavishly copying other product descriptions - which I drew attention to and edited, just before being told I had been dismissed by a freelance co-worker, who was formerly, nominally my boss. (The HOD couldn't even to tell me herself that my so-called contract had suddenly been cancelled, after three years, rendering me unemployed with no thanks or explanation given! What a horrible environment, filled with unhappy drones!)
