Check prescription medication closely when it is dispensed at a Clicks pharmacy

Check prescription medication closely when it is dispensed at a Clicks pharmacy. We as patients trust the pharmacist completely. Big mistake! On 14 Dec 2021 I collected my husband’s chronic medication from Clicks pharmacy Park view. Included was supposed to be a Neurobion 3ml injection. (A nutritional supplement) On 16 Dec the injection was administered and within a short space of time my husband felt very ill. The appearance was as if he was having a heart attack. What a shock to realize that instead of the prescribed supplement, NovaRapid Insulin had been administered (my husband is NOT diabetic) He was admitted to the emergency ward at Kloof Hospital and stabilized. Thankfully we were able to pay as our medical aid did not cover any of the expenses. The next day 17 December 2021 on confronting the pharmacist, she admitted not checking the package. The matter was reported and relevant documentation submitted to Clicks Practice Manager Inland North. Follow up e-mails on 27 January 2022, 16 and 18 March 2022 did not elect any response from Clicks. During April 2022 I lodged a complaint at SA Pharmacy Council. On 3 May 2022 I phoned to enquire and was promised an answer within 14 days. On 6 June 2022 I submitted a written request for an answer from SA Pharmacy Council. Up till today 21 September 2022: No answer from Clicks or SA Pharmacy Council. The least I expected from Clicks was an apology and reimbur*****t for proven expenses. I also have to accept that there will be no consequences for serious, life-threatening mistakes made by a qualified pharmacist.
