Assaulted at Clicks Stores Mdantsane City Mall
Good day,
To whom it may concern.
My name is Nomazangwa Cakathiso Ngetu. I am 39 years old female, Mother of 3. I am a Founder and Director of Zango Women Empowerment Program (ZWEP) which was founded in Cape Town 2017 just recently launched it in East London/Mdantsane on the 30th October. We fight against GBV and deal with other young girls and women issues. On Wednesday the 3rd of November 2021 around 14:00 I was assaulted at Clicks Store in Mdantsane City Mall by the Manager and the Security.
I went there to buy makeup, so I went to the beauty department and took a foundation while I was holding it a lady from that Department took it from my hand without saying anything and I asked her why did she do that what's going on, she said i will get it at the till when I'm about to pay I then asked her from when because I was there last month to buy makeup and no kne took it from my hand she must please e plain to me, she made faces so I asked her to call her manager because I didn't like her attitude, I asked her twice she didn't and then I asked another lady who works there to call the manager for me, while the other lady was busy calling the manager this lady pass by me saying uzoqina Sisi kanti uzoqina (you'll be strong)
The manager came I told him about what has transpired the manager said to me she will talk to her when I'm gone and while I was explaining this to the manager the girls where laughing at me I 5hen said to the manager look at what they are doing now why don't he call her and speak to her while I'm there so that this can be fixed, he said no customer can tell them what to do or how to do their work. That's when I said to him I will take a picture of her name badge and write to the head office when I took my phone ready to take the picture of the name badge, she hit my hand and took her name badge off then I slept her back instead of the manager try to calm the situation down he called the security to take me out and was shouting at me as to why did I hit her, I asked him what did she do to me who hit whom first. The security grabbed me aggressively I asked him not to i will go out of the store the way I came in. He didn't stop the pushed me I took my phone to record them while I was doing that I felt a slap on my face still shocked a punch followed then the manager came between me and the security but the security kept on pushing and kicking me I then fought for my self because it was now me against 3. He then pulled away I asked the manager if what he did was right he said no his hands on his head he then started pushing me again then I said how am I going to pick up my phone if he keeps on pushing me.
My phone is broken, I have bruises, my top that I was wearing is torn. I did go and open a case CAS. 17/11/2021 now the police went to see the footage and called me at the station saying the clicks people are there. I then went to the station and they were there I started getting emotional I shed and cried because the detective took us to one room and also said to me infrint of them that I am going to be arrested too because we were fighting on the footage and they are opening a case against me too. I asked her what was she going to so if she was beaten by 2 men was she not going to defend her self , she said she won't answer that. We then waited for the Station commander.
He came and he said to me a case has been opened against me too so we are too old for this let's talk there and end this there or the second option is to be arrested to and go to courts the lady from Clicks was laughing at me even there infront of the police, I asked them i they seeing what she is doing they kept quiet. I then said fine if they want to arrest me its okay will see each other in court. I was arrested and the security then on Monday the 8th went to court clicks people didn't come inwas then called by the prosecutor and she told me that my case is not ready inwill be notified when ready. I last spoke to someone from clicks on Friday the 5th that was the regional manager who said to me he is 2 minutes away from clicks at the time and he saw the footage and saw everything I said on the footage and the time I was going to the lady to take a picture of the name badge. I asked him the footage that the police saw is completely different then, then he asked me if they offer to me to watch the footage I said no they didn't since then ne er had from the regional manager either. Now ma lost because it seems that Clicks and out Justice system supports GBV and I failing us, it is so said.
