APPLIANCES USELESS return POLICY non existant

I purchased a Kambrook frier 999 last year August It stopped working , I took it back to the store ! I am being told they cant take it without a box !! NOW in Corona times who keeps packaging > So i wasted 999 rand on a 6 month appliance ????
