Access to emergency contraception denied at Clicks Pharmacy Cedar Square

I went to buy emergency contraception on 20th of May 2018 around 10H45 to 11H00!at clicks pharmacy cedar square and the gentleman who was ar the dispensary logged into the system and asked why I had taken emergency contraception twice in the past 2 months. I told him it was an emergency because partly i hadnt collected my contraceptive on time and secondly i recently had a pap smear and a severe fungal infection so i stopped taking my melodene daily contraceptive although I collected it monthly because i would still need it after resolving the severe fungal infection. I also notified the gentleman that i therefore needed emergency contraception because i hadnt taken anything hormonal for a month and it was 24 hours post-coital. The gentleman refused to dispense emergency contraceptive backed by the lady who was also in the dispensary. They told me emergency contraceptive was only allowed twice in one year. I thanked them for imparting the knowledge as i was not aware; but i did need emergency contraception either way. They asked me to get a letter from my doctor/ prescription because it would not get them in trouble with the Pharmacy Council. Imagine! Being a Sunday the lady said i could go for another 24 hours- it was still okay. I told the lady emergency conraception efficacy reduces aa time post-coital increases and i even told them and showed them that i was a fellow pharmacist and was not aware of the law or publications limiting use of emergency contraception to twice per year. Already it was difficult talking at the counter that i needed emergency contraception when everyone in the que was listening. I reminded the other lady that i have talked to her as a professional, woman and someone with a genuine case and i was so sad at such treatment
