Tyre destroyed by parking entry spikes!!
On 23/08/2017 @ 15:30 I entered Clearwater Mall main entrance second lane to the left. I took my ticket and drove into the parking area, but as I drove over the security spikes something failed on their system and my right rear tyre got slashed on the inside shoulder by one of the spikes. I heard air rushing from the tyre as I proceeded to the first parking available. The last bit if air exited my tyre as I parked. I called security to show them.the damaged caused by their equipment. I was told to give all my details, even photos was taken by the head of security. I was told centre management will call me on Tuesday (Monday was a public holiday). I never received a call and ended up trying to get hold of G.M. Lauren Meyer. I ended up emailing Lauren to explain what happened. I was referred to Ops Manager Rudi Oosthuizen ( ********** 260). Rudi knew about the damage and reviewed the video footage to make sure I didn't reverse over the spikes. He confirmed I only drove forward over them. He explained the case will be handed to their insurance to decide on the claim. He warned me that it was highly unlikely that they will settle the claim, because the mechanical function of the spikes made it impossible to puncture a tyre when driving over them in the correct direction. More than a million cars has entered without problems. Today is day 13 after the incident, I have sent 3 emails to ask Rudi when I will received a call from the insurance, needless to say up to date NO CALL. Why are big companies like this bullying their clientele? @R8 for the first hour with thousands of parkings their daily income from our money is huge!! I know I am not the only person with this problem. Until this matter is sorted out from Clearwater's side, I will not support this mall, and hope everyone reading this will share my view on this.
