Refusal to pay back the deposit

Clear Mandate Property’s/ Alpha Valencia. We had a lease agreement with the above property group, from August 2020, supposed to be ending on the 31st of August this year. We had to cancel the contract due to the loss of income, which was out of our control, now they do not want to reimburse us our deposit or penalise us a portion of the deposit but the whole amount we paid for deposit. To us this seems unfair because loss of income is beyond anyone’s control. Kindly assist.
