Humble Beginnings to Don't Care Attitude!

From humble beginnings to a "don't care attitude"!

To the owner of Clay Cafe I strongly suggest you take time to do some serious reflection on your business ethics. It is very sad that money and popularity have clouded your judgement and customer service.

I remember when Clay Cafe was a wonderful new little venture. The sky was the limit and ensuring customers were a priority and made to feel special. Run from a 'no frills' workshop with cold breezes blowing in and hardly any protection from the elements if you were seated outside. No fancy play area, just a simple swing set and jumping castle. Our money and loyalty as very regular customers was good enough then. Family, and friends regularly spent time at Clay Cafe for our children's parties, adult birthday evening celebrations and fun days out over weekends and holidays. The proof is the many items still used daily and shrines in our gardens containing works of art by all our children.

After many attempts dating back to the first email sent 18 May 2022 and then a special drive all the way to Hout Bay to try and get some clarity - phone and email clearly are not strong points of communicating at the 'new' Clay Cafe! Only to be told that the person responsible for making decisions related to our special booking request was away until early September. Someone at this time would then make contact to discuss our request. 20 guests all being catered for with food and drink by Clay Cafe along with painting a requested simple item not on the shelves but something that with some effort could be sourced or produced on site. (All items are made on the premesis by Clay Cafe)

After no call as promised, another call was made to Clay Cafe to find out if the said person who makes decisions had returned. (Clearly business is just so amazing that there is no need to follow up on any new bookings).

Finally today an answer (yes I too screamed with joy that we finally had some clarity since May) Only to be told our potential booking was turned down and could not be catered for! What an INCREDIBLY short sighted and disappointing response. Clay Cafe remember word of mouth is very powerful! It is sad to think that you are so "rich" now that all you have is money! I truly hope your business continues to thrive, you are clearly one of the lucky ones out there.
