Where NOT to have your classic car restored

In August 2019 I sent my 1964 Fairlane to Classic Restoration to be resprayed and minor rust removed. What should have been a simple strip, respray and reassemble turned into a 2 and a half year nightmare. I eventualy got my car back in March 2023. Still with items missing. My irreplaceable hubcaps were in true South African style reallocated to new ownership, metric nuts and bolts forced into imperial nuts and bolts. They also damaged my gearbox which I had reconditioned and tried to blame the company that overhauled the gearbox for doing a bad job, but then they replaced it, but it leaks oil everywhere. Brackets and fasteners I had custom made to fit gauges on the dash were lost and replaced with cheap sloppy made stuff. Some parts were replaced with used rusted replacements from other cars, my new reconditioned engine smokes from revving and abusing the motor while at their premises, gauges they were supposed to install do not work, I even had to take the car to a brake specialist at my cost to have the brakes fixed that they messed up and the endless list goes on. I had endless excuses everytime I phoned or visited them to enquire on progress. They blame everybody else for damage they caused. Now almost 2 months later and in typical Classic Restoration style they giving me excuses why the missing parts have not been replaced. They just do not give a damn. Its just a business to them and dont care about your dream car or any work they do. Overall finish and standard of work is not up to standard of a company claiming to restore classic cars. Do not attempt to use this company. You will have endless nightmares with endless excuses everytime you enquire about progress.
