Stay Away - lying owner

STAY AWAY! CJ seemed as a very nice and professional until things went wrong. He came to fix a leak in the shower caused by too narrow pipes. We asked for estimate cost which he only was able to give us after removing shower. He then said he would charge us R1100 for materials (one pipe and two small fittings). We asked for list of materials so we could verify and he would not provide this. When he was leaving he asked to check and we saw very poor work on silicone but there wasn’t anything we could really inspect as the fixed pipe was under the shower tray. We paid him total of R2560 for work and materials. He said ‚let me know if you have any problems, then I will now come back and sort out the problem’ - as a guarantee of his work. We waited 36 hours before using the shower. Then we found that the shower is still leaking and the leak is worse than previously. We found a crack on the shower tray that wasn’t there before. CJ refused to fix it or take any responsibility for the crack. He claimed that the crack wasn’t there. At a closer inspection we saw that the crack was covered with silicone to try to hide the problem. Later my wife saw photos of our bathroom on his Facebook page where CJ is claiming ALL the work. He included basin and toilet to be supposedly done by his company which is a total lie! My wife commented on the post saying that it’s a lie and CJ removed the comment as well as blocked her from accessing this Facebook page.

After he refused to fix what he broke, we requested that he gives us our money back as the shower is still leaking. He ignored our messages.

CJ is unprofessional, irresponsible and lying contractor. Some of his work might be good but once something goes wrong you will be left with no money and with even more problems. It’s so sad we had to go through this and now be left with no money and greater work to be done.
