Poor support once paid
In an attempt to go greener and save on electricity I decided to install an inverter and solar panels in September 2018. After shopping around we came across this company, Civic Smart Systems (CSS) and had a meeting to discuss the project. As we would purchase the inverter, panels and batteries, we discussed our plans with the owner (Eugene van der Nest) in person. My family was impressed by their apparent knowledge and expertise and they appeared to be very professional by answering our questions and flying a drone over our house to select the best installation site. We agreed on the installation cost and purchased the inverter, batteries and solar panels that they approved for the project. The installation was scheduled for two (2) days in October 2018 but the installers rushed and worked until 7:30 pm on the first day to get the basic installation done. The finishing touches would follow but this was not done. In February 2019 I was contacted via email to pay the outstanding amount so that CSS could finalise their financial year. Although the finishing touches have not been done and no installation certificate (CoC) issued, I paid the outstanding amount. During April 2019 I noticed an increasing drop in the early morning PV that became more severe in May. It turned out that the solar panels were incorrectly installed. I contacted CSS who wanted to charge me to move the panels although they have not completed the project with no signoff or installation certificate in place. After numerous heated discussions they moved the panels and made an attempt to do the finishing touches. Still no CoC and to date I can’t get any response out of Eugene van der Nest or his work manager, Christo van der Westhuizen. Now more than a year later I am still left without a CoC! I will not recommend this company to any person as they are ************* and rendering sloppy work.
