Safety of customers is not important for City Lodge
We are very disappointed. We booked accommodation at City Lodge Umhlanga Ridge which was messed up. I was looking for an apartment with two bedrooms to ensure the family has the same entrance as we have two minor boys. I checked availability online and before I made the booking on Hotels.com, I called the Umhlanga Ridge hotel to confirm that what I was booking online is exactly what I was looking for and not two separate rooms or a room with a double bed. I was told it was two bedroom within the same apartment (what is referred to as a family room or interleading room). When we checked in, we were given two separate rooms. The manager, Mr Johna Pillay, and a staff member suggested that we leave the minor children on their own in the other room. This left me in awe. It never occurred to me that City Lodge actually does not care about the safety of its customers, especially young children. I asked Mr Pillay if this is something he would allow to happen to his children (i.e. being left to sleep on their own in another room at a hotel), and the answer was NO. I wish I had been told upfront that what I was looking for was not available instead of City Lodge just taking my money and not give me what I paid for. The fact that the booking was done through an agent should not impact me at all. Oh the excuse by the City Lodge manager was that the booking was done by a third party, who I assume, is an agent of City Lodge. This really is an internal matter that City Lodge must take up with its agent, and it is the responsibility of City Lodge to fix its internal control deficiencies to ensure an effective booking system is in place.
