11/01/2023- I find the vehicle I would prefer within my budget online @ Citton Cars Menlyn. I contact the Gezina branch and arrange for a test drive on 12/01/2023.

12/01/2023- Go to Menlyn dealership for the test drive. Tyres mentioned by the salesman to be smooth have been replaced. Cars drives well, nothing out of place, I am chuffed. Contact salesman and confirm that I want the vehicle. We start the process, I pay a deposit to confirm.

17/01/2023- I go to Citton Cars Gezina to collect the vehicle, fully paid. @ 10:15 I am told that the manager is ready to complete the paperwork. I had sat there since 8am, not even a cup of coffee and I just gave them R165k? @ 11:11, I am handed the keys to my 2’nd hand (new) car. @ 12:45 I call the salesman and report that the oil pressure light flickers intermittently when the vehicle is stopped and idling, I am asked to please send video footage of this happening. I send the video footage as instructed by 12:51. I also Google the problem and find forums explaining the possible causes and suggested solutions. Which I also send to the salesman, as I am still awaiting confirmation of the next step from the service manager. I am requested to return the vehicle on the morning of 18/01/2023 and they would sort it out immediately. Around 17:30, on my way home, I stop to fill the vehicle with diesel, attendant proceeds, I check tyre pressure. I notice a strong smell, hear running liquid and see a pool forming under vehicle, check and there are 3 streams of diesel running from the bottom of the vehicle. I called the salesman on a video call to report the diesel leak, he confirmed that he could see 3 streams of diesel running from the bottom of the car.

18/01/2023- 08:15 I return the vehicle to Citton Cars Gezina as requested, driving a 40 litre diesel bomb, with no idea what the problem is, with no assistance from Citton Cars Gezina in returning the vehicle. @ 10:00 the vehicle is taken into the workshop. They follow the recommended steps in resolving the oil pressure issue: engine flush, add spec viscosity oil, replace oil filter with GUD oil filter. Fuel tank inspection reveals that the “*****-on” plastic ring holding the pickup assembly and o-ring in place is broken. “*****-on” plastic ring and o-ring is replaced, but it does not resolve the issue. Thread onto which the “*****-on” plastic ring *****s, on the tank, is damaged. The service department would source another diesel fuel tank. This function they could not do, and it is what they do! @ 15:38 I had found a diesel fuel tank and had sent the information to the salesman.

I don’t have my vehicle! I am out R165k! I put 120km on the clock, this includes driving from and to Citton Cars Gezina! I have to wait for another 14 working days!
