Review: Faulty Ford Focus from Citton Cars – Poor Service & No Resolution

I bought a 2016 Ford Focus from Citton Cars (Gezina, salesperson: Marklin) on 10/10/2024, and it’s been a nightmare. The stop-start function never worked, reported on 18/10/2024. Bosch Services (Citton’s workshop) replaced the battery on 29/10/2024, but issues persisted. On 07/11/2024, I noticed oil leaks; booking repairs was difficult with no loan car offered. On 06/12/2024, driving to Polokwane, the car showed “service engine,” “hill assist fail,” and “parking assist fail” warnings. Ford later found water in the gearbox oil via the breather tube. On 20/02/2025, a 120,000km service revealed the timing belt and water pump, due at 100,000km, were never replaced. Citton’s service book showed a 19/02/2024 service at 110,833km, but manager Jacques Welgemoed claimed it was only oil and filters. The previous mechanic (Koops, job card 129875) confirmed it was an engine rebuild, not a service. I sought legal advice, sending a letter of demand with little response. Mediation ends soon, but Citton remains unresponsive, seemingly testing my resolve. This is costly, but I’m committed to pursuing this as far as needed, having given every chance for a fair resolution. Citton’s poor communication and lack of accountability are unacceptable. Buyers, beware!
