CITIQ a complete *******

This is a complete rip-off even with your calculation page you provided, firstly the BASE UNIT price from eskom is wrong ! Off with more than R 0.20 and in some cases up to R 0.40 in others yes we checked the local supply base rates p/unit from eskom and the rates for different regions.

CITIQ do yourself a favor and get ready for a class action lawsuit, carte blanche and other news outlets will soon be investigating your blatant theft.

Personally we have been paying R 2.65 p/unit for he past year and it now went up to R 2.85 p/unit, according to eskoms provided tariff tool which gives the base base rate for 20A homes @ R 1.30 p/unit and 60A homes @ R 1.45, taking this into account we calculated for a single home with 4 people use appr. 700 - 800 units p/month would cost ±R1000 p/month paying eskom directly With CITIQ as provider or rather "collector" it costs this same family on avg R 2000.00 p/m effectively double the eskom rate.

Our landlord ***ner of this property) assured us that he is not making a cent using CITIQ and also in the process of investigating this ***** as his own electricity went through the roof.

Someone is *****ing and we as consumers just have to cough up, this has o end !

Dear David
We completely understand how frustrating this situation must be for you and would like to assist you in finding out where the money went. The exact details of how a particular electricity cost is calculated (with Incline Block Tariffs and several other variables per utility and region) can be complex, but we hope to clear things up for you and any others who feel they are being overcharged.
Your landlord is completely right - legally, no one in South Africa is allowed to resell electricity at a profit. The government requires Citiq Prepaid to add VAT. Other than that we transparently charge 8.75% for providing the prepaid service (which is lower than the fees of most other providers), a channel fee of 0-3.5% based on where the electricity is bought, and an 0-5% building recovery fee, only if there are shared areas in an apartment block. See here https://www.citiqprepaid.co.za/faq/#cost-the-same

Could you email us your details at *** so we can personally assist you in getting to the bottom of this? We are committed to dealing with all issues transparently and would like to take the time to resolve this with you. We would be happy to call you at your convenience.

Regards, Citiq Prepaid

Well I sent a mail and received a reply from Dineo Nkoebe from CITIQ this morning, if I do not receive a satisfactory answer and resolution to this by Friday 14 FEB 2020, we will first lay a formal complaint with NERSA to determine who the guilty party is here be it CITIQ or the landlord and then follow it up with a lawsuit.

Enough is enough
