Can't purchase electricity on app. Tyme Bank cards have never worked, company never communicates important information with it's customers

Tyme Bank cards have never worked. So I have to constantly have the inconvenience of asking and refunding my son to purchase on my behalf using their Capitec card. Now the Capitec card isn't working because "web page unavailable services.vendsystem.co.za etc could not be loaded"

I've phoned and asked if I could please be notified as soon as the payment service is restored as I'm going to run out of electricity within 48 hours. For reasons I can't understand your company doesn't send any notifications to your customers, neither by sms or email. Instead I was only told about the update to terms and conditions when I phoned (why don't you send email or sms notifications to customers?)

Funnily enough as I'm the tenant. I have to notify my landlord on your behalf of your changing terms and conditions because for reasons I don't understand your company absolutely refuses to send notices by email or SMS. Very unprofessional for your company to ask your tenant to contact it's other customer (landlord) on your behalf.

I wish I was notified about your website payment portal being offline (by sms or email) instead of having to phone. And be notified again when it's online but astonishingly was told I have to contact customer care to see if it's online again. So wow. I have to contact customer service on Whatsapp every 15 minutes to stay up to date about when I will be able to purchase electricity again... Seriously why do you not use email or sms to notify your customers of national payment faults and send terms and conditions policy changes?

Please tell me when your payments will be online again. And when will you fix the issue with Tyme Bank (possibly Visa) cards that have been ever since I got my prepaid meter?... Everything works. 2 step verification goes through only to give an error message resulting in the transaction failing.

Apologies if I'm upset about this. From paying about 30% to 40% less per kWh (was with Eskom directly, about R2.30 per kWh if I remember correctly to now R3.12 per kWh) and now having all convenience taken away meaning I pay more for less convenience than what I had. Your company kinda feels like a compulsory multy level marketing firm (pyramid selling) that I'm forced to use and pay significantly higher charge's for so that the landlord and your company can get a large kickback. Apologies if I'm aggressive it's just this event pushed me over the edge.

Please fix all payment issues as soon as possible.

Thanks for your call. Please keep me updated.

Please forward my additional feedback below:

Unfortunately I'm uncomfortable that your app asks for such sensitive bank account login information (similar to an ******* fishing website) which my bank advises me to never share with anyone or any entity if you are hacked or an insider trades this information possibly worth 10s if not 100s of millions of rand's (depending on how many bank accounts can be hacked, hence you would become an open target for hackers as your website very likely spends much less on digital security than a national bank) the liability to your company would be unimaginable.

The above was in reference to your aps EFT payment method needing banking passwords and usernames. This feels like a total disregard to the financial security of your customers and setting them up for for their accounts being hacked.

As this has no advantages over normal EFT (waiting for money to clear) I have no idea why your company would even offer this. Especially over other digital payment methods.

Also disappointed that your company isn't willing in any way to compensate me for my additional costs due to this mess your company is responsible for.

Good Afternoon, thank you for taking our call on the 17th of November. As you confirmed the purchasing issue has been resolved and you are now able to purchase using Tyme Bank via the app. The issue was that your online purchasing was not enabled.  We appreciate your concern for your digital safety when purchasing through our app and would like to assure you that we take every effort to ensure that it is secure. When purchasing via the EFT option on the Citiq Prepaid Tenant App or Website, your purchase is facilitated by our payment service partner, Ozow. When you initiate an EFT purchase from our app, you are redirected to Ozow's website to enter your online banking credentials to complete the purchase. Although you are still in the Tenant App, because you've been redirected to Ozow's website, we (Citiq Prepaid) do not see, collect or store the banking credentials you supply to Ozow.  Ozow is licensed as a Systems Operator and a Third-Party Payments provider with the Payments Association of South Africa. Additionally, they are Payment Card Industry (PCI) certified, a global security standard outlined by financial institutions including Visa and MasterCard. You can read more about Ozow's efforts to make your purchasing experience as secure as possible here: https://ozow.com/security
