Beyond useless despite upgraders

CIPC is one of the terrible hurdles companies face in South Africa. To classify it as a hindrance is an understatement.

The following are highlights of CIPC:

* poor service

* inability to resolve queries and issues satisfactorily;

* no meaningful way to lodge queries with accountability and follow up;

* poor user interface and non-relevance to end user interface;

* no easily accessible store for uploaded documentation for users and associated companies;

* no realistic way to engage with staff to try resolve a matter;

* reliance upon an obscure system to whitewash issues and absolve responsibility.

The list goes on.

Even here on HelloPeter they do not review what clients are saying. They do not respond. They do not take responsibility. There is no accountability. Sassiness and non-helpfulness are encouraged.

Heaven forbid trying to change your own company name, where they have your documentation on file, received payment, and you are the sole director. My initial name change query was lodged on 28.10.2016. Received feedback on 05.12.2016 that my ID was not certified, and the transaction basically cancelled. I've lost over a month in stalled projects and business rebranding, amendment of banks, new business soliciting, directorships and restructuring. Thank you CIPC for hitting me in my pocket due to incompetence.

I do not claim to be perfect. My ID was uncertified, but I missed it in the plethora of documentation submitted to them. A mistake. An easily fixable mistake in the same day if someone had bothered to look at my documentation and asked for it. What is worse is that I had submitted a ticket on 16.11.2016, and specifically requested them to notify me if anything was amiss so I could rectify it. They never told me something was wrong. Fast forward to present date - transaction nullified because of the ID matter. Hypocrisy and incompetence are the mantras at CIPC.

They whitewash everything and refuse to help, clinging to obscure (at best, often incomprehensible and invisible) parameters and procedures that do not facilitate business or the South African economy at all.

To sum up - CIPC cannot justify its own existence, and is blatantly a useless parasite that suckles the life from businesses for no tangible returns at all.

I'd rather file papers manually in triplicate with originals to the DTI directly and sacrifice my own left arm than to work with this institutition where possible. They single-handedly make a case for never incorporating. Rather be a booth vendor or affiliate via an international firm than trying to contribute to SA's business market.

Service = TERRIBLE

Interface = TERRIBLE

Usefulness = NONE

Validity = NONE

Necessary = YES (NECESSARY EVIL)

Unfortunately there are no "minus stars" ratings.

Good day

We have noted your frustration and had you attached correct documentation you would have been helped by now. Please also note that name change of a company can be done online and it is instant. You don't have to send supporting documents anymore.

For easy of reference please check step by step guide on name change on www.cipc.co.za
