CIB INSURANCE - CUTS ON CLAIMS AND JUST DELAYS

My apartment has flooded due to a burst hot water pipe in our estate. With this my tiles started cracking and lifting. My kitchen cupboards have been damaged and my stove top and oven trips my power and has stopped working.

The tiles have since been discontinued and no longer available. My apartment flooded right into the lounge, yet CIB insists that they will only replace cracked tiles in the kitchen and they do not need to match existing tiles. Their assessor is the same company that also quotes for repairs and states only cracked tiles to be replaced. But I have received other damage reports from tilers stating that once tiles has water damage, it all starts lifting. CIB quotes wording from the policy stating replacing anything that was damaged does not need to match.

With that the kitchen cupboards was not properly assessed. I had to get another contractor in to quote and do a damage report at a fee. The stove and oven I had a company come out to assess and they stated it needs to be replaced. CIB sends their own company out and also stated in damage report it needs to be replaced. Then they requested me to get a quote to repair. HOW DO YOU REPAIR ELECTRICAL WIRING AND COMPONENTS FROM WATER DAMAGES????

I wouldn't advise anyone to be insured through CIB insurance and will take this up with our managing agents as well as Ombudsman. We pay a fortune on building insurance and claims/assessments are watered down to suit them. Not the actual damages. STAY AWAY FROM CIB INSURANCE

Very disappointed with CIB.
I was contacted by a loss adjuster for an assessment and was under the impression that this was to resolve the query on my tiles.

upon arriving he tells me that he also deals with the ombudsman, should I decide to proceed to them.
with that he then states that the previous assessor sent by CIB was not a proper assessor and should not have assessed my unit. further more saying he would never have approved tiles to be paid out. This also led to an argument of him stating my clay tiles and grouting is waterproof and he then tried to justify that by, how do I think shower tiles do not lift? I stated to him that showers are waterproofed and it's not the same tiles and grouting used. he tried to say that my tiles are lifting because the grouting was already dug out and shower tiles and grouting are all the same as floor tiles, and when I mop my floor how do I wash it. I pointed out to him the markings on my dining room table proving the water level on these 5 occasions and that mopping tiles is not the same as the tiles being fully flooded with boiling hot water.

CIB, This was a very dirty attempt on your part. sending a loss adjuster out to argue with me in my own home with points that are just not valid. purely because CIB does not want to settle a decent replacement amount for my damaged tiles.
