Chubb quietly turns an automated billing failure into an incredibly bad situation

While other reviews are saying that they can't stop Chubb from taking their money after they cancelled their policy, I had the opposite problem. The automated billing system that was paying my bills stopped working. Even though there was plenty of money in my account, Chubb cancelled my policy before I could discover that there was a problem. They also refused to re-instate it when I figured out that there was a problem.

I investigated and concluded that there was nothing that I could have done (such as a selecting a higher level of customer service or somehow increasing the time between the automated billing failure and automated cancellation) to protect myself agaist this particular kind of risk. I've had other automated billing systems fail, such as my internet service provider's system, and my cell provider's system. In both of these cases the provider called me up to let me know there was a problem.

I would advise against holding an insurance policy with Chubb. I feel that there's a very real risk that, in the event you need to make a claim, you could discover that you your coverage had lapsed without your knowledge.
