Disservice
On Friday the 20th October 2017, I booked in my Jeep Grand Cherokee car registration number BV10CMGP for a service at McCarthy and Kunene (013- ********** ), on the Sunday the 22nd the vehicle broke on the N4 road whilst I was traveling from Nelspruit to Kanyamazane. I had to call AA to come and tow the vehicle as everything shut down and the engine couldn’t start. Since it was a Sunday the vehicle was towed and place at storage at Lowveld Body Works.
The following day on Monday it was taken to Jeep Union Motors in Nelspruit as per McCarthy and Kunene instruction.
After conducting a diagnostic it was found that the Alternator and Engine Control Modul (PCM) was faulty. The dealership confirmed that there is a campaign they are running to recall all the Alternators in the Grand Cherokee models. What is mind boggling is that they also indicated that the battery is affected as result and needs to be replaced by myself. The question is the battery was never raised as a concern when the vehicle went for service, but packed up after the Alternator failed to function and is a cause of the breakdown.
Now Chrysler SA has approved to replace the Alternator and PCM and further alleges that the battery costs should be covered by myself setting me to an amount of R8173.16.
Please assist to resolve the matter at hand because I’m at loggerheads with Chrysler SA on the issue of the battery replacement and the amount requested which feel should not be my responsibility since they are taking accountability for the alternator which caused my car to break down as a result affecting my battery.
For further enquirers please contact the service consultant, Pauline Botha at Jeep Union Motors at 013- ********** or Delly Tshabalala at McCarthy and Kunene at 013- ********** .
Thanks in advance.
