Inhuman treatment

I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the appalling treatment my aunt, has been subjected to at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto. She was admitted recently and unfortunately has faced severe mistreatment by the nursing staff. According to her account, and as verified by other sources, she has been accused of being a foreigner by certain patients, leading to discriminatory actions by some nurses. These actions include the confiscation of her identity document without justification, denial of access to water and basic hygiene facilities like the toilet for an extended period, spanning over two days.

Such inhumane treatment is not only unacceptable but also a violation of her fundamental rights as a patient. The duty of caregivers in a healthcare facility is to provide compassionate care and support, especially to vulnerable individuals in need of medical attention. Instead, my aunt has been subjected to distress and neglect.

I urgently request a thorough investigation into this matter and immediate intervention to ensure the safety, dignity, and proper care of my aunt. The responsible parties must be held accountable for their actions, and measures should be implemented to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.

I implore the hospital management and relevant authorities to take swift action in rectifying this situation and providing my aunt with the care and respect she deserves as a human being and a patient under your care.
