A COMPLETE NON-STARTER DISASTER!

After my hairstylist recently took a job overseas, I found myself in the market for a new hairdresser. I contacted ChopIt Salon at Lifestyle Nurseries in Randpark Ridge after having received an sms from the owener touting for buisness, specifically for female cleints, the previous week. After battling to reach Graham (the owner) I eventually reached him & we spoke at length about my requirements, tint brand and price. I re**** on his recommendation regarding a "senior" stylist (Jill) and he said he would order my colour. A week later, tint order was confirmed and as I again couldn't get an answer at the salon, confirmed a booking with Graham via sms.

A week prior to my app, Jill phoned to again go through colour detail. Her knowledge seemed somewhat lacking although she made it a point to interupt me and tell me of her 20 plus years experience. I again reiterated the colour detail, she confirmed all was in order and confirmed app day and time. Forward to day b4 app - I rec a message from Jill on my cell asking whether "You're coming in today for your appointment". I called her back to tell her my app is actually the next day - Thursday 23rd March @ 3pm, to which she responds - "Oh I was just double-checking". Really? Have confirmed with both you and Graham and you still can't get it right?

Come Thursday 23rd , I wake up feeling ill and get progressively worse as the day wears on, call Jill lunchtime to reschedule only to be told she's out and to call back - asked them to give her a message instead. Over an hour later, waiting for her call - no response whatsover - I call again. She's short and abrupt and tells me she called me but I have no missed call and no message and when I point this out she rambles about the times she tried calling me from her cell (clearly fabricated) and in the same breathe tells me they aren't allowed to phone cells from salon. I told her how unprofessional that is - if a client leaves a message, they expect a response. Long story short, told her I was ill, needed to resechule "for tomorrow same time". Jill has an annoying habit of talking while one is mid-sentence and I had to repeat myself twice. I told her I had an appointment to move but to take as confirmed, I would contact her if there was any problem and to kindly sms me her cell no so I could be certain I could reach her, she said she would.

Jill never did send me her mobile no as promised and when I arrived at 14:50 the next day for my app as scheduled, was told that not only was she not in for the day, she hadn't called anyone at the salon to explain her absence and no one at the salon had bothered to cancel her clients.

The lovely young black girl tried to help by offering to do my colour but was unable to find the branded tint that had, "supposedly" been specifically ordered. In the meantime, I made 2 calls to Graham the Salon owner for an explanation or at least find out where we could find the colour - with no response whatsoever. Luckily for me I managed to get an immediate appointment elsewhere with a Salon who stocked the same tint and they did a wonderful job.

The saga at CHOPIT LIFESTYLE is not quite over . . . I followed up Saturday with a phonecall to Jill at the Salon who hadn't even bothered to call me to apologise for not pitching for my appointment and who was not the least apologetic. She shouted over me the entire phonecall, after having booked my in for Saturday ( so she says), not Friday, which was apparently also my fault - despite the fact that I was never available Saturday - and when I tackled her on her bs, she hung up on me. The same day, I left 2 further messaages for Graham - whom I'm told is never at the salon - no surprise then that it's such a disaster area and clients are so unhappy.

Not only did Graham never apologise for the travesty he calls a business but he never even bothered to respond to my total of 5 phonecalls, in which I promised to black-ball him if I had no response - so here we are.

To add inslult to injury, during my brief, ill-advised visit to the salon - which was so noisy - it's akin to having one's hair done at a day-care - I was told by another unhappy client that even GRAHAM'S OWN WIFE no longer uses her husbands salon because JILL , whom he apparently favours above all other staff (for no reason anyone can discern, although I can hesitate a guess) messed up her hair & colour so badly on her last visit, she left in tears and refuses to return! If thatnisn't a testament to the disaster one is sure to suffer if you visit this Salon, I don't know what is!

Although left furious at the disgusting service I received at the hands of JILL and GRAHAM - with hindsight I believe I had a lucky escape and am relieved to have found a salon where professionalism is the order of the day, one won't arrive to chaos where the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing, or leave in tears!

NB Graham also owns and mis-manages CHOPIT hair salon at Broadacres Shopping Centre.
