WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE

10 June 2025

I have been in the service industry for 14years and never have I noticed or experienced such appaling behaviour towards a customer.

In my search for a beautiful colour of nail polish and mostly being dissapointed when coming home and painting the colour on just to find it isn't the same colour as the bottle displays and sometimes even not a solid colour but see through and then unable to return according to most shop's return policies on beauty products I decided to test beforehand.

I was informed that the shop was about to close so I wrapped up my search and headed for the pay point, as I was putting down the items I want to purchase one of the employees came to my side and asked that I should show my hand to her, indicating to the hand I tested the nail polish, in my innocence I thought maybe she is also curios to see how the colours look and raised up my hand, she then told me I should buy all the colours I tested on my nails because I am not allowed to test the nail polish.

The employee being rude and aggressive and me being blown over answered back that she can't force me to purchase the nail polish.

There was no sign indicating "NO TESTING" and why didn't she come to me at the time I was testing the nailpolish to let me know I am not allowed to do so.

She even went on and fetched the nail polishes I tested without having had a proper look at the colours I have tested indicating that she has been watching me intently waiting for the moment I went to make my purchase to force me to pay for them, they didn't even want to let me leave the shop before paying.

Furthermore I was even being accused of *****ing by one of the other employees, the same employee who tested one of the nail polishes on her own nail when I asked if one of the clear nail polishes with a peach tint that says "softener" is a cuticle oil or nail polish, remarking after she tested it on her own nail that it is a nice colour, let's see if it dries afterwards then we will know.

Why did this employee also not let me know that I wasn't allowed to test the nail polish even testing it on her own nail.

When I asked about the other beauty products she said you can test lipstick on your hand to see what colour it makes but not on your lips but they don't have testers for lipsticks either so what is the difference?

And this is not the only bad experience I have had with this shop, at a previous incident I purchased x2 extension cables, one of them not working I went to exchange the item.

The employee who assisted me then tested the cable himself putting pressure on the plug for it to work and then saying there is nothing wrong with the cable.

This is the worst customer service I have seen in my lifetime, tricking and then forcing a client to buy a product and then even accusing the client of *****ing because of testing a product.

The Consumer Protection Act (CPA) clearly states that consumers are not obligated to pay for unsolicited goods or services. Furthermore, suppliers cannot use force or manipulation to compel a consumer to enter into an agreement or make a purchase.

They couldn't even follow the simplest rule that the customer is always right and should be treated with respect.
