No Chic to be found

My complaint relates to flooring which I installed in February 2017. I paid R35 000 for vinyl flooring in 4 bedrooms and a passage. AND STILL DO NOT HAVE FLAWLESS VINYL FLOORS. The flooring was installed by Chic Floors - also trading as Mikah Air - and carried a 10 year product guarantee and a one year installation guarantee. Within days of the flooring being installed they were breaking up. Within two months there were flaws in every single room.

After much backwards and forwards due to their claiming that they didn’t have stock and that guarantee repairs needed to be done at their convenience on a weekend, they eventually sent someone to come and repair the floors in October of 2017. He however only repaired one room and tried a quick fix in part of the passage. By January the passage was entirely broken. I threatened legal action and finally the gentleman, Brian, sent a different installer to asses the situation. His feedback was that the passage floor was uneven and should have been screeded before the floors were installed. He also noted that the product was faulty and breaking in the bedrooms in an unusual manner. He further noted that even the bedrooms were badly installed and should have been glued. As a result Brian said that he would fix the bedrooms, but we should screed the passage before he fixes that. I reminded him that he had every right to quote the screeding when quoting the job at the outset. The quote that he submitted was done after he personally inspected the and measured the area after we had a flood in January 2017. As a result the floors were bare concrete and he could easily see if they were satisfactorily even for the floor installation. He then agreed to screed the passage and do the repairs. Last month the guarantee repairs were finally scheduled. The new installer arrived with some new stock and tried to repurpose some old stock that he deemed still usable. He completed re-installation of 3 of the bedrooms and a part of the passage however no finishing of the areas between the doors and other surfaces was done and the greater part of the passage was left as concrete after screeding. The installer advised that he had run out of stock and would return with more. Upon following up with Brian he then advised me that they feel that they have been amicable in resolving our dispute and will not return to re-install the passage. I am obviously horrified as the situation is NOT resolved. I paid a large amount of money for flooring that would last 10 years and I am yet to have functional floors in my passage or neat finishings as promised by the claims on their website. Think twice about hiring this company to install anything in your house.
