Chery SW workshop: A rather disappointing experience
This review reflects my personal experience with Chery Somerset West. I hope it helps others make an informed decision before purchasing.
I took delivery of my Tiggo 7 Pro at the end of April 2024. The buying process and initial service was outstanding (Thank you Celest)—the dealership went above and beyond my expectations, and I was genuinely happy with my purchase.
However, my brand new vehicle came with multiple defects. To their credit, the Chery Somerset West workshop resolved most of these issues. Unfortunately, one persistent defect remains unresolved. I have had to make multiple trips—each requiring a 30km drive one way—without any form of compensation. Despite assurances that the issue had been fixed, each visit ended in disappointment.
On one occasion, when I went to collect my vehicle, the service advisor at the time became aggressive and attempted to prevent me from test driving my car before signing the necessary paperwork. This behaviour is completely unacceptable and does not reflect the level of professionalism expected from a reputable brand. I would also like to add that I have not received a formal apology for this.
NB: As of now, I am still driving a vehicle with an unresolved defect that their workshop cannot seem to fix.
Given this experience, I am unlikely to purchase another Chery. While the cars are impressive, the after-sales service and technical support from the workshop have been shockingly poor.
