DISHONEST Service @ CHERRY DESIGN - Stay Away
Dishonest, unprofessional service. After leaving my Tissot PRS200 watch with CHERRY DESIGN for polishing i went to collect the watch 3 hours later. Upon receiving i noticed that the crown was open (not *****ed down) but did not think much of it at that time. I chatted with the owner Gary for a bit and left the shop. only once i was leaving the mall i noticed steam building up on the glass and i decided that the following day on my way back from Durban to Swaziland i was gonna stop by and enquire about that. so the following day i found myself back at Cherry Design, after telling them that i found the grown open the previous day i asked if they wash the watch with water after polishing and Gary said that they use steam and never water. they dried the watch (the steam was gone from the glass) but the watch was no longer working. i was told that i have to leave the watch with them so they could have their watchmaker look at it. I returned to Swaziland and few days later i was informed that the repair of the watch was going to cost R5980... a new PRS200 is R7650.00 at the moment. I phoned Cherry Design and spoke to a woman called Salvi and i explained to her that i do not expect to pay anything for the repair of the watch since it was damaged by them in first place. and that was pretty much the last time i could have any meaningful conversation with them as they just plain refused any responsibility and instead i was told that i quote ''and Gary has confirmed the crown was closed when handed over to you'' up until i just requested the watch to be returned to me. Gary never bothered to answer his phone obviously avoiding me and i really wonder how does he confirm that the crown was closed.. if he can look at the CCTV footage he will notice that the first thing i did when receiving my watch is close the crown. My watch is not expensive but makes me wonder what would they do if the watch they damaged was a 100K + TAG or Breitling... Or maybe its the fact that Gary knew that i'll be going back to Swaziland so they wouldn't have to deal with me in person its easier just to avoid someone and have someone else deal with that person via email.
My advise to anyone.. STAY AWAY from Gary and his team @ Chery Design. My message to Gary.. thank you for spoiling my otherwise perfect holiday in South Africa on the last day. At least you could have apologised for the damage but said that your shop does not take any responsibilities for items left for repair... loss through theft damage etc. and we move on.
