Absolutely Poor Cherry Century City
I bought a GLC 250d from Cherry Century City on the 20th June 2025. When I bought the vehicle, it had a rattle and a shudder when the vehicle come to standstill. Calvin said they will fix the rattle, as i did not force the shudder issue at that stage. I fetched the vehicle on the 20th and as i took off, the rattle was still prominent and i immediately turned around and went back. The sales manager and someone from the workshop drove with me, at first the workshop guy told me that can't hear anything, i got annoyed as it was prominent and the sales manager could also hear it. Then all of the sudden, he also heard it. I booked my vehicle in, it was with them for more than a week. They brought the vehicle back to me, as they stopped I noticed that the one side of the boot lid was totally out of line, I could put my fingers in there. I then sent the vehicle back again. The same day they brought it back. On the 27th I drove on the highway and the display went dark completely and I took a photo and sent it to Calvin. On the 30th it started to rain while i was driving, when I got home I noticed that both the headlights was totally fogged up, once again took photo and sent i to Calvin. I was then told by the DP (Warren) that it is a common problem on these vehicles and that nothing can be done about it. I then contacted Mercedes Century City and ask if that was in fact a common problem on these models, they decide that it was and advice that a pressure test should be done on the headlights. I then contacted Calvin again and told him what Mercedes Century City told me. They then agreed to have the lights tested. Both lights failed the pressure test, and both were cracked. The lights was repaired and only got my vehicle back on the 4th of August 2025. At that stage I did not have my vehicle in my possession for more that 5 days in total. Then on the 9th of October I had the vehicle booked in with Mercedes Century City to assess the problem with the shudder when come to stan still. They discovered that the control unit on the gearbox need to be replaced and would cost R60k. I sent all the necessary documents to Calvin and from there on they did not assist at all. I then contacted the MIOSA to open a case, that was on the 8th of November 2025. Two months ago I had to have my vehicle repaired as I could not drive it anymore, It cost me R62K in total. I sent a message to the MIOSA a week ago, notifying them that I had my vehicle fixed cause i could no longer drive it like that. Now suddenly I receive a mail from MIOSA notifying me that i was not allowed to have my vehicle fixed and had to wait on the outcome of the case and it is now closed and I will have to pursue legal action should i wish to. How can one wait a year for a response form MIOSA and not able to drive your vehicle. Anyone wanting more information, I have every bit of communication between Calvin, Carlo and Warren and myself.
