Checkers Sixty60 forcing customers into worse service zones with no appeal process

I have been a loyal Checkers Sixty60 customer in Mowbray for years and previously received excellent service from the Rondebosch store.

In Jan 2025 my address was reassigned to the Maitland store without consultation. Since then, service quality has declined significantly, frequent stock shortages, limited product range, delayed deliveries, and recurring issues with fresh produce quality. Almost every order now requires additional shopping elsewhere, defeating the purpose of using Sixty60.

When I raised this with support, I was initially told store allocation is based on the “closest participating store.” However, the Checkers app shows I live closer to both Riverlands Observatory and Rondebosch than Maitland.

After months of escalation, Checkers has now confirmed in writing that allocation is determined by internal “store polygons” and that there is no exception or appeal process for customers, even when service quality declines.

This means customers can be locked into a poorer-performing store despite closer and better options existing, with no mechanism to correct it.

I am not asking for special treatment, only to receive the level of service I previously enjoyed from a closer store. I hope Checkers will reconsider how this policy affects loyal customers in practice.
