Checkers Sixty60: A menace on the roads and ruining the in store experience...

This service is proving disruptive at the very least to both road users and in store customers. Let me first address the in store situation. I was at Checkers, Meadowridge last week when an old lady was elbowed out of the way by one of the staff members shopping for an online customer. I'm not sure on which planet this type of behaviour is acceptable, but having witnessed this type of encounter before and been the recipient of it myself on more than one occasion, I can confirm that this is not uncommon amongst Checkers staff who behave like priority shoppers and appear to think that the experience of the in store patron has to take a back seat when they are doing their rounds. I have also witnessed this and more at the Plumstead and Kenilworth Centre branches. At KC, I was unable to get to the stock on the shelves, because the drivers were lined up in the aisle, obstructing the customers from reaching the merchandise! That's not to mention that the store is jam-packed with trolleys filled with bags for online shoppers, holding up the customers with their trolleys. So it seems that the person who makes the effort to come into the store is now treated like a second rate customer. Well, after much frustration and time wasted, I left my very full trolley in an aisle for your "priority" workers to have the pleasure of packing away. I refuse to be treated like these three branches of Checkers are doing me some kind of favour when I walk through their doors. I visited the Constantia Emporium branch at the weekend and what a pleasure it was, so it appears to not be across the board. Now why is that? My second issue is with your extremely irresponsible motorcyclists, both on the road and in the Checkers parking lots. At the Plumstead branch a couple of months ago, we were nearly side-swiped by a bike who was speeding in the parking lot! Upon speaking to the store manager, I was simply told that this service is outsourced to a third-party company and they have nothing to do with these drivers. There is no accountability by Checkers for rogue drivers who represent them and seem to think that the rules of the road don't apply to them. I'd like to once again make it clear that if someone is on YOUR time, carrying out a service under YOUR name or brand, then YOU are responsible and accountable for their negligence. You'd be really keen to take ownership if it was positive feedback, would you not? With that being said, I'm enjoying the Woolworths/Pick and Pay customer-focused experience and will continue to do so in the future.
