Why have special if you do not have stock

On Friday 05 June 2015 Checkers had a sale for nappies going for R100 and this sale was only for one day. I went to checkers in Durban Game City (umngeni road) on my lunch and I was advised that they were out of stock and still waiting for the truck that I on its way to deliver more nappies. The guy that I spoke to advised me to come back later I the afternoon maybe after 3pm, I did come back as advised and was told that the truck is on the way and must wait for another hour or so....I waited up until the store closed and that truck did not come and I ended up not getting the nappies.....I was very upset as I had to wait till the store closed, waisted my time, my fuel driving to this store, my airtime calling them and ended up not getting what I wanted. If only they told me they were out of stock and I must try another store, I would have done so....coz I do understand people were buying these nappies as they were very cheap, the only reason why I waited is coz I was promised and didn't want to go to another store and find out they are also out of stock.
