What happens if you accidentally drop your Whisky

So this afternoon as per any other Saturday afternoon, I drive down to Checkers Liquor Store on BraamFischer for a bottle of whisky. I normally buy Jameson Select Reserve (at the same store) but today, Glenlivet was on sale - so I went for it. Just after I exit the store, the bottle falls out of the box and breaks. So I thought, well these stores have a policy for these things so it should not be a big deal. Long story short, the Sales Manager and the Branch Manager refused point blank to give me a sealed bottle. Their biggest scapegoat - I was not inside the store. Anything that breaks even a metre outside the store is not their problem - This was Justice's words, no matter how I pleaded with him. This was not intentional sir, it was an accident. I told him. Call customer services if you are not happy with what I just told you -he said. If your hands are tied by your company policy, surely there should still be some sort of empathy from someone that's a Branch Manager under these circumstances? I didn't get this at all from this gentleman or his Sales Manager. Checkers please explain to me how this exchange policy works? I just want to enjoy my whisky, after all I paid for it.
