unhappy with refund procedure

I bought russell hobbs kettle last year in November which is under 1year warranty,it broke nd i went back to checkers Bracken gardens to return, i found the lady by the name of rethabile who gave me the best service, i told her that i have return the kettle it doesn't work anymore she checked the kettle and found that it doesn't work and she told me to go and take another kettle, which i didn't get same kettle i bought she told me that they don't do refund they only do exchange, but it was unlikely dat i didn't get the same kettle so i decided to take another one which is ottimo nd the price for russell hobbs is R229 nd ottimo is R100. What happened in dat case cause the is a difference of R130 which is a lot of money to me. I didn't want money but atleast explain further to me cause i feel like checkers is ripping their customers off<br> their
