Unfair treatment at Checkers Hyper in Centurion Mall

I just want to raise an issue. Today (Saturday, 5 August 2023) I went shopping at Checkers Hyper inside Centurion Mall. I shopped and as I was leaving the a male guard stops me, so I thought he was just looking at my slip to confirm that I did buy the things (mind you the sensors did NOT go off) so he starts taking his time and looking through everything thoroughly, even my purse and I only have 2 plastics with hardly anything inside, so I asked him why he’s doing this and he says they doing it to everyone but literally 10+ people even passed us while I was being searched and they were not stopped at all. The security started being rude and said "when you are driving on the road and there is a roadblock, the police can stop whoever they want". What is he trying to imply by saying that? The police are the law and the security guard is not. He even started reading my slip from Truworths. What does my truworths slip have to do with Checkers?

I called the manager and asked him “what the security process is at his Checkers” and he seemed confused. So I told him what happened and he said “yes ma’am the guards can search you if the sensors go off” so I told him that the sensors did not go off at all and then the manager started being rude and said “Have you never been to Makro, they also check peoples slips there” and I told him that Makro doesn’t select who to stop, they stop everyone and check every single persons slips. The manager was so rude and he hung up.

I have been to this Checkers many times and they have NEVER done random searches. Why today and why only selected customers and not all? Given the amount of black people who were being searched it was definitely giving the wrong impression. I have also been to the Checkers in Limpopo, Rosebank mall, Kosmosdal, other Checkers in Centurion and never has Checkers security stopped me to search me.

I also recorded videos to show that it seemed like only a few people were being targeted and this had nothing to do with "security".
