******** treatment according to my rights
**“On 11 April 20206, I paid approximately R4,500 for groceries at Checkers Selcourt Towers. The payment was processed successfully, and I received proof of payment from my bank. Immediately after the transaction, the till lost power.
Despite clear evidence of payment, I was detained in the store for over an hour. I was not allowed to leave with my goods, nor was I offered a refund. I was told I could return the next day or pay again.
This constitutes: • ******** refusal to release paid‑for goods, • ******** detainment of a customer, • A breach of the Consumer Protection Act, • And gross negligence by senior management.
The store manager attempted to assist, but higher‑level managers dismissed the situation entirely. I left the store without my goods and without my money.
I request immediate intervention from Checkers Head Office and a full investigation into the conduct of the management team involved.”**
