The cheek...

After doing a bit of shopping at checkers Davenport, I swiped my card to make payment and all the systems went down. I waited for 20mins so Checkers could reboot their systems. I assured them that the money has been taken from my account because I recieved a text from my bank. After they assured me that the money has not been taken out, I paid again. Then they assured me that should I have been charged double, I would be refunded by 12 that evening. The following morning I had a direct debit come through for one of my accounts - fail. I get charged for not having the money in my account for not servicing my direct debit. Had they have let me know that it would take longer I would have sorted something out (they have my contact details) Ok... lets waste my petrol to go back to Checkers. Thinking this should only take a few minutes, I left my employees on site "no worry guys, I'll be back at 2pm to take you home". I stood there for 45mins waiting for them to refund my account. They decide to give me cash.... Now in the line at the bank teller to put this back into my account. I paid all 5 of my employees 1hr extra for the long wait. Is Checkers cheaper? I really dont think so. Why did I have to return to Checkers to ask for my money? Would they have bothered to pay me back had I not gone and made a fuss? What was the point of keeping me at checkers longer when the systems collapsed to take my details if they were not going to keep me informed??
