Selling off meat to customers and not compensating them in a manner that they feel comfortable with.

What a horrible experience! I’ve gone to Checkers Moffet on Main Port Elizabeth so many times and I guess it was all to good to be true. I purchased their ribs which the butchery packs themselves. Got home and to my surprise when opening the packaging, the smell I got from the meat was horrific! CLEARLY HAS GONE BAD!!! Yet they still had their employees packages this disgusting old meat and sell it to people. Mold had already formed and the meat was literally sticking to the packaging. Called them, spoke to admin manager Adriaan and she was more than happy to assist with me getting a refund and picking out ANYTHING I wanted from their butchery. She then said she would give me a call back after she had spoken to the butchery manager Bongani. All set and headed back. On arrival another lady had taken us to the back to meet with the butchery manager, no hello, no I am sorry for selling you old mouldy meat and no empathy whatsoever! PATHETIC if you ask me, he had them already pack two pieces of meat as “compensation” mind you, not at all what I wanted. I wanted the ribs which is why I bought it in the first place and that is what I wanted. How could he decide for me as a paying customer what I wanted. He then told us in a very abrasive manner that his area manager said that is what he had to give and couldn’t assist us further. Once again NO APOLOGY. My partner and I came in a respectful manner and simply just wanted what we wanted and I think they could have handled the situation better. Nobody was bothered. We then asked for the area manager’s number and he refused. We then asked that he call so we may speak to the area manager to give him our complaint, Bongani said no he cannot call. I don’t think he called at all to begin with, mind you when asking what kind of meat he packed, the man didn’t even know what he was giving. I am utterly disgusted in CHECKERS MOFFET ON MAIN AND WILL NEVER SHOP THERE AGAIN. Horrible customer service and unprofessional “managers” that can’t even tell what meat they sell to their customers. They still left this horrible off meat on their shelves and I am sure someone else will get sick from it and maybe then they will do something about it.
