Selling handsets under false pretence
Bought a brand new cellphone (Samsung A3 core dual sim) from Checkers in Kuruman mall on 27/06/22. The Lady that assisted with th sale did tell me that sim slot 1 is locked on the vodacom network. I specifically asked whether sim slot 2 is unlocked. Her reply was an resounding yes. I can insert any network sim into sim slot 2. As soon as I got home I inserted an Mtn simcard into sim slot 2. Upon powering on the phone I was greeted with a message stating "A non-Vodacom sim has been detected and data services is limited only voice services will work". Hence my problem if I knew this would be the case then I would not even have bought this handset. Now the terms and conditions also did not state anything about sim slot 2 being network locked. This is not the way to do business. Intentially selling an item under false pretence. I went on and gave vodacom customer service a call and the operator informed me this device can only be unlocked after a period of 12 months.
