Security measures a little excessive!

I was in the store on the 31/12/2019 and i was extremely hungry so i asked for about R25 worth of Chicken strips to which they did assist me with, i then ate the chicken strips as i was shopping for other goods in the store. once i was done eating I left the empty packet in my basket so i could pay for this item when at the till along with the other goods i had. The tills were very busy so i assisted the cashier with packing the goods and i genuinely forgot to pay for the chicken strips. as i was walking out of the store the security stopped me and did not speak but he did have the empty packet which contained the chicken strips and i knew i had forgot so before he spoke i admitted that it was mine and that i would pay immediately, to which he escorted me to a back office and advised me to have a seat while he guarded the door. me feeling uncomfortable asked if i was being charged, to which he did not reply. he said i should remain in the office and wait for the manager. so i somewhat comp**** standing next to him at the door. when the manager arrived she was rude and looked at me like i was trying to ***** from her, i can understand why she would think that but i had already admitted the item was mine and that i would pay. the team at Checkers Gateway is extremely rude and treated me like a ********, all the eyes of the other patrons of the store watched as they escorted me to the room and watched as i spoke with the manager who offered no understanding, i was embarrassed to even be in that situation which was blown out of proportion. i will never shop at a checkers again. poor
