Rotten chicken

I went to a checkers store in Wonderpark, I took a crate of chicken pieces, when I got to the till I recognized an awful smell from the chicken, I looked at it closer and it was already turning greenish. How come the store keeps things that are not fresh on the shelves, this is not the first time I’m experiencing this
