Return Issue

My mother bought be a house warming gift this week, A Russell Hobbs milk frother. Unfortunately her slip was completely tarnished by sanitiser spray & therefore the slip was thrown away due to it being 100% unreadable.

She gave me the gift not knowing I bought a coffee machine that has the same function. Therefore making her gift irrelevant. However it is a R1,000.00 so I went to our local checkers where it was purchased (Checkers in Meadowdale).

I explained the story to the store manager & mentioned I don't even need a cash refund a credit or voucher will suffice if it's impossible to return cash. I shop at the store so the voucher would be used relatively quickly.

The manager processed to tell me "Unlucky" you have to keep it now, I can't help you which I again explained its value & I cannot accept no, in which he proceeded to tell me "how do I know it wasn't ****** during the looting".....which I actually just walked away. I couldn't believe it.

Disgusting service to say the least....... I now have a R1,000.00 ornament in my cupboard.
