Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Repeated Sale of Rotten Food

Dear Store Manager,

I am writing this letter to express my absolute frustration and disappointment with the continuous negligence displayed by Checkers Goldfields Mall regarding the quality of food being sold to customers. This is now the third time I have been sold rotten food from your store, and frankly, this is beyond unacceptable.

The first incident occurred when I purchased groceries for a society group, only to find that the beans were rotten. I had to go through the inconvenience of returning most of them. Then, in December 2024, I bought food worth R480 at your kiosk, including fish and pumpkin, only to discover that it was spoiled. I had no choice but to throw everything away since I was already on the road for a holiday with my family.

Yesterday, on the 03 February 2025, I purchased a dozen eggs to prepare a marinade for a braai. To my disgust, the eggs were rotten, and I had already cracked one into my meat bucket, contaminating it completely. Now, I am not only losing money on the eggs but also on my meat—an additional and entirely avoidable financial loss caused by your negligence.

How is it that a major food retailer like Checkers, which is supposed to uphold strict food safety standards, is selling rotten food as if it were an unlicensed, ******* tuck shop? We often criticize unregistered businesses for selling subpar, non-SABS-approved food, yet here you are—a well-established corporate giant—failing at the most basic level of food quality control.

This is more than just an inconvenience; it is a serious health risk and a blatant disregard for customer welfare. I demand an immediate explanation and resolution to this issue. I expect a formal response detailing how you intend to address this ongoing problem, including measures to prevent it from happening again. If this matter is not handled with the seriousness it deserves, I will have no choice but to escalate it to consumer rights organizations and relevant regulatory bodies.

I look forward to your urgent response and corrective action.

Regards, Lencoe Bouwer ***
