Quality of dog food
If there is a thing I despise more than a price increase; it is manufactures quietly lowering the quantity or quality of products. Sometimes it takes a while before the consumer realise the chocolate is now 80g and not 100g anymore or 2 litre ice cream tub doesn’t contain 2 litres. The problem is that the other brands soon follow. We used to buy Husky dog food tins, until we realise they are adding cereals and lessen the protein. We then switched to Petleys, until their quality went down too. We then only bought the PnP brand, the Checkers housebrand and the Spar brand. This weekend we were low on dog food and were going to buy some of each of these brands, but saw that the labels of the PnP brand changed. After studying the label we saw that the protein is down and it now contains cereals. The label of the Checkers housebrand Chunky dog food looked still the same, but upon closer examination we saw that the protein is also down from 80 to 60 and it also now contains cereals. When we got home and inspected the 7 Checkers housebrand tin we had we realise that Checkers actually caught us with their trick. 3 of the tins are of the new stock that contains cereals. Now we only have the Spar brand left and can only hope that they don’t follow the rest.
