Poor Quality Fruit and Vegetables

I am frustrated with the poor quality of fruit and vegetables sold at Spar and Checkers. My R10 reaches their bank instantly, but the apple or pear I buy takes 10–14 days to ripen — if it ever does — and often spoils before it reaches my mouth.

The vegetables are no better. Potatoes arrive with shovel marks, onions are bruised, broccoli is old, and apples look like they have fallen on the ground and been damaged. Buying fruit feels like hard labour — you have to “***” through piles just to find something half decent, and even then it takes time before it’s edible.

South Africa exports the best produce overseas, while local customers are left with second‑grade goods. This is not fair. If Spar and Checkers want our loyalty, they must sell fruit and vegetables that are fresh, fit for the table, and ready to eat — not *** food.
