Paypoint machines faulty
On numerous occasions have I paid with my chipped and pinned FNB Cheque card and the card machine at the till point does not ask for my pin. The machine would not allow the card to be inserted in the slot, but only to get swiped and gets approved with no pin asked. I have reported this to the store manager on a previous occasion and she told me that they know about the problem, but nothing has been done about this. I have a chipped and pinned card for a reason, so that my transactions are safe and secure.

The attitude of all staff in the shop are poor, nobody greets or actually listens. You have to wait long at the deli counter to be helped - especially when no one is in attendance (no way to call or get assistance)
Thank you for taking the time to contact the Checkers supermarket chain.
In an instance when a chip card fails to read successfully the pin pad will automatically ask that the card be processed on the fall back by being swiped, unfortunately chip cards are setup in such a way that it does not require a pin to be processed on the fall back. Checkers has queried this with the major banks who have advised that they are unable to link a pin to the fall back on chip cards at this time. However, a cashier should inform a customer before proceeding to swipe their card and therefore the details of your experience will be referred to the divisional management.
In conclusion I would like to thank you for the opportunity to clarify the matter.
Kind regards
