Pathetic service

One would think in these times that customer service and service delivery would be sharpened up. I have been to Checkers Hyperama in Mayville twice now and both times experienced the most pathetic service ever. The employees don't care how they behave towards the customers and even worse speak to you as a customer. We did our shopping on the 07/11/2020 and on our way to the till points there were 4 ladies and assistants(bag packing) standing at 4 tills. Unsure if they were open I asked if they were, where I was informed “NO” in a very raised voice. I said okay and moved in behind another lady also waiting to pay. Martha was the lady behind the till, I started packing my groceries out. She then told me without first greeting or even looking at me “ the belt is broken I need to move my groceries by hand”, I said its fine. When I needed to pay I proceeded to do so, she asked me something and I couldn’t hear what she was saying because of the shield so I said excuse me ? and then she spoke to me as if I am a child?! I don’t know if they know what customer service is, or if they know that the people buying their groceries there are paying their salaries. Unfortunately Checkers is a big store and they know they don’t need to worry about customer service cause they aren’t dependent on people coming. I went to a small shop in the same centre and you could see the world difference, because they know they are depending on people coming into their shop. Checkers really needs to step up, the second time I went to Checkers was after work on the 10/11/2020. We did our shopping and was in the Pharmacy section in the back of the shop, we were looking for linseed Oil and couldn’t find it. I approached someone with a Shoprite shield and green striped shirt and asked if he worked there, where I was informed “yes” in a way like I’m wasting his time. Then he asked the lady behind the counter (not in English) where they first had their conversation and then just heard “no” we don’t have it. Okay, so we finished our shopping and proceeded to pay, on our way out we were told by the security towards the door that the centre is closed and we need to walk all the way around to go to our car. This is all the way to the other side, really??? Why couldn’t she just open? She is there?. I would rather drive 3km further and go to another shop then doing my shopping at Checkers again.
