Old meat at checkera

I bought meat at checkers and we braaied it the evening when we wanted to eat it... It was old and smelly i took it back and all they did was say sorry and gave a refund.... My kids ate of the old meat and all was said was sorry gave money but what does they say about selling old meat that smells
